Headphone knowledge science

According to the type of driver (transducer) and the way of wearing headphones, headphones are mainly divided into:
Dynamic Headphones
The moving coil earphone is the most common and common type of earphone. Its driving unit is a small moving coil speaker, and the diaphragm connected to it is driven by the voice coil in the permanent magnetic field to vibrate. Moving-coil earphones are more efficient, and most of them can be used as headphone output drivers for audio, and are reliable and durable. Generally speaking, the larger the diameter of the driver unit, the better the performance of the earphone. At present, the maximum diameter of the driver unit in consumer earphones is 70mm, which are generally flagship earphones.
Moving Iron Headphones
The moving iron earphone is an earphone that is transmitted to the center point of a micro-diaphragm through a precise connecting rod, thereby generating vibration and sound. The moving iron earphone has a much smaller unit volume, and this structure effectively reduces the volume of the earphone in-ear part and can be placed in a deeper position in the ear canal.
Ring Iron Headphones
Ring-iron earphones are earphones with moving-coil and moving-iron hybrid driving sound. There are single moving coil + single moving iron, single moving coil + double moving iron and other structures. The advantages of moving iron units are high electro-acoustic conversion efficiency and lighter vibration body. Therefore, the earphones have high sensitivity and good transient performance, so that the music dynamics and instant details that are difficult to be expressed by the original dynamic coil are highlighted.
isomagnetic headphones
The driver of the isomagnetic earphone is similar to a reduced flat speaker, and the flat voice coil is embedded in a thin diaphragm, similar to the structure of a printed circuit board, which can make the driving force evenly distributed. The magnets are concentrated on one or both sides of the diaphragm (push-pull type), and the diaphragm vibrates in the magnetic field it creates. The diaphragm of the isomagnetic earphone is not as light as the diaphragm of the electrostatic earphone, but it has the same large vibration area and similar sound quality. Compared with the dynamic earphone, the efficiency is lower and it is not easy to drive.
electrostatic earphones
Electrostatic earphones have light and thin diaphragms, polarized by a high DC voltage, and the electrical energy required for polarization is converted from alternating current, and they are also powered by batteries. The diaphragm is suspended in the electrostatic field formed by two fixed metal plates (stators). The electrostatic earphone must use a special amplifier to convert the audio signal into a voltage signal of hundreds of volts. The headphone is big, but it’s responsive and capable of reproducing all sorts of tiny details with extremely low distortion.
